June Birchbox

Can you believe it’s June already? I feel like the spring months flew by so quickly, I get a Birchbox every time I turn around. During the winter it felt like they arrived once in a blue moon. I wonder what type of cliché they’ll arrive like this autumn.

The theme of this month’s Birchbox is Jet Set. I don’t think I’m jetting anywhere for awhile, mostly because we have so many events to attend right here on the east coast. Most of them are just far enough from Brooklyn to have to spend the night away from home, so travel-size products will still come in handy. Let’s dig in!

Okay, the first thing I saw says “For a Birchbox Man” to which I say: NO FAIR. Ah, it’s a cologne sample, so basically a throwaway. Though it’s John Varvatos and I like what he does, so maybe we’ll give it a sniff. The real reason this is in here is to announce the new Birchbox Man subscription. I have a feeling it’s not going to be quite as popular as the one for ladies, but who knows? Let’s just throw that somewhere for now.

Comodynes Self-Tanning Intensive
They say these are the bestselling European towelettes. They sent two, which I think was generous, and I’m interested in checking them out. I’ve used tanning towelettes on my face, which I love. Tanner does make me a little nervous, I’m more of a “gradual” girl, but it says it’s buildable which I hope means they are not too intense.

Masqueology Pore Minimizing Mask
This is one of those masks that’s already face-shaped, as opposed to a cream or gel that you apply. They call it a “sheet mask” so I guess that’s a more concise way of saying it. I’m up for pore minimizing anything, anytime, so: YES.

Stila One Step Bronze
This is a three-in-one bronzer, primer, and serum, which is also is supposed to keep skin’s oil production in check. It’s a full-size bottle, I think! It’s huge by Birchbox standards, and it looks like it’s full of whole-wheat fusilli, but probably isn't.

The Balm Stainiac in Beauty Queen
A two-in-one lip and cheek stain. I love stains! That sounds gross! I know! But you know what I mean!

Tili Bag
An adorable printed “zip-top” bag. The card says you can breeze through airport security with this, but I will tell you right now: If you’re traveling to or from Mexico, don’t try to get cute. They will pull you aside and make you repack everything into a basic zipper bag, and the one they give you is really flimsy and cheap, and you can’t shove as much stuff into it as you could into the nice, strong, clear, tsa-friendly, reusable quart-size toiletry bag you usually use. Just so you know.

In conclusion, this is a pretty friggin’ awesome Birchbox. Less travel-y than I thought, but more summery, and summery is always good! Did anyone get anything different?

  1. I also got the Stila one step bronze which I am scared of because I'm so fair and that it's a waste of such a big bottle. I also got the travel baggie. Cute. I also got the stainiac and put it on immediately. I love it. The hint of color on my cheeks is so pretty and natural looking. I may actually go buy this right now. Different from you, I got Juliette Has A Gun- Not A Perfume. It's described as only using one note from the standard mix of perfume. But I can't seem to find the little description so I can't tell you what that one ingredient is. Anyhew, I put that on right away and I really like it, not the usual sugary sweet scents I get from Bb. And finally and very anti-climactically, I got Clean Well All Natural Hand Sanitizing Wipe (just 1), snooze.

    1. Maybe you could mix it with some moisturizer or tinted moisturizer? It's so exciting to get something "big" in a Birchbox, I just wish it was something a little more useful. Glad you found two things you like though!
