We’ve all been there. You’ve got eye makeup where you don’t want eye makeup, so you grab a cotton swab, carefully dip it into your bottle of makeup remover (or run it under the tap), squeeze the excess out over the sink so it’s not too wet, then attack the offending pigment.
Or
You grab a q-tip, wet it in your mouth, and get down to business. It’s a little gross, but it’s fast, it works, and it’s your own saliva anyway, so it’s fine. Right? Probably.
Or
You could get these little things from Bare Escentuals: i.d. On the Spot Eye Makeup Remover Liquid Filled Cotton Swabs. They are exactly what they sound like.
They look like regular cotton swabs, except the stick part is filled with clear liquid, and there is a blue ring circling one of the cottony ends. You hold the stick with the “ring end” up, bend it gently to one side until you hear a snap, and then watch as the perfect amount of eye makeup remover flows down into the other end like magic.
They are not really big enough to take off all your eye makeup,
unless maybe you were wearing just a little bit of eyeliner and no mascara. They
are really great for erasing mistakes and perfecting a cat-eye, though you have
to act fast if you’re using waterproof makeup. Also, if your regular eye makeup
remover + face washing still didn’t get everything off, you can use
one of these to get into the tight spots around the lashes.
They definitely work better than regular spit, however, “mom-spit”
might be stronger. (I suspect most of mom-spit’s strength comes from the
force of the wipe though.)
Considering they cost five bucks for a box of 24, they may not be good for everyday. Especially if you make a lot of mistakes (which is how you learn!) But they would be good for travel, or a special event, or if you are going to be getting ready in front of somebody you don’t want seeing you wiping spit on your face.
