Spring Cleaning: Done!
Just in time for the first day of summer, I finished Spring Cleaning my makeup cabinet. It had been… awhile. I think I skipped doing it last year due to some health b.s., and I had an embarrassing number of expired products.

Spring Cleaning
I’ve been working on my spring cleaning, which includes cleaning out, cleaning up, reorganizing, and repairing, for a few weeks now. My husband doesn’t understand why it needs to get done, and if it really needs to get done, why we can’t just pay someone to do it.

Sugar Honey (Iced Tea)
One of the first posts I wrote for this blog was about my very favorite lip balm, Fresh Sugar Rosé. I still absolutely love it, though when I tried it’s original-flavor sister, which has a lemony scent and no tint, I was not impressed. I haven’t tried the Plum, because I’m not into the color. However, I recently discovered the newest member of the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment family on Sephora.com. The latest is Honey, and it’s good.

April Showers
So, it’s Earth Day! Let’s get all eco-friendly. I am not any kind of a crunchy granola hippie, but I try to do what I can. We all should. I use a Brita and a SodaStream instead of buying plastic bottles of flat and seltzer water. I bring my own bags when I go to the store. I recycle. I live in an apartment, and take public transportation or walk almost exclusively. I support local and organic farming when I can. I use cloth napkins, cloth lunch bags, and special reusable sandwich wrappers. I buy mostly natural cleaning products. I even buy toilet paper and paper towels made from recycled paper. But not the tissues, those tissues are awful! I also have a weakness for real light bulbs. I only have three CFLs in my whole apartment, and I hate one of them every time. And they’re so efficient it’s going to take FOREVER for that one to burn out! So I deal with that, but in general, I think my carbon footprint is small enough that I don’t really feel guilty about having soft tissues and nice lighting.

In Like Lion, Out Like "Meh."

March is supposed to come in like a lion and go out like a lamb, but that never seems to happen. It usually comes in like lion, teases us with a couple of lamby days, catches us off guard with freezing temps because we refuse wear our big down coat anymore, and then goes out like whatever. Cold and gray, like today. And tomorrow, it seriously might snow. SNOW! I am absolutely dying for some lamb days, so today I’m writing about one of the most useful fleecy white things in the beauty world, the humble cotton swab.

Sweet! DIY Sugar Body Scrub
Winter has been very long, and very cold, to the surprise of no one. Now that we have extra daylight, and are treated to the occasional warm day, it’s time to make some preparations for spring. We need to get ready to break free from our sweater cocoons, and I’d rather emerge a beautiful butterfly than a dusty old moth.
Let’s save our dollars for some spring clothes (and maybe a little makeup), and make our own body scrub to cast off the dry skin of winter. Like a snake! (Not at all like a snake.)

Spring Ahead!

In spring a young man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love, and MY fancy inevitably turns to thoughts of shopping. I do 90% of my shopping online, and I think I have it pretty well figured out. Even though spring doesn’t officially start until March 20th, and I started my own spring shopping at some desperate point in February, I’ll share my tips now, in honor of Daylight Savings. In my opinion, it’s the unofficial official start of spring.
