Naked 3 Tutorial!

Have you ever tried any of the eleventy-billion eye shadow tutorials on YouTube? I have. And while I’ve had success with some of them, and some of them are great, in my experience they are a huge pain in the butt to follow. Even when I did have that kind of time, I didn't have that kind of patience. You have to keep going back and watching again, listen to the chatter, rewind, blah blah blah, OMG I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT COLOR GOES IN THE CREASE!!!

But there is another way! I have enlisted professional makeup artist Sheri Stafford to do some tutorials for us! And what we did for OUR tutorial, is provide step-by-step instructions and close up photos. Photos that don’t move! So you can look at them and see what’s what. Sort of like a map of where the colors go. Or a very blendy paint-by-numbers.

Also, since so many tutorials these days have super-fancy winged liner, for this tutorial, Sheri did us all a favor and provided us with a gorgeous look that you don’t need professional-grade makeup skills to accomplish. It only LOOKS like it does. Not only that, there is a mini-tutorial inside this tutorial that explains how to line your upper waterline. (I’ve been meaning to talk to you about that for ages! It will make your lashes look so thick! And even though it definitely feels weird, it’s not hard to do!)

So here we go, with our first ever professional makeup artist tutorial for people who are not professional makeup artists! All the colors are from the gorgeous new Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette.

To prevent shadows from creasing, and for long lasting results, prime entire lid (lash line to brow) with your favorite lid primer.
I have used Urban Decay Primer Potion– it evens out my lid color and helps my shadow last all day without creasing– because I am an oil slick. People with dryer lids can feel free to use a cream shadow base.

Apply BUZZ over eyelid from lash line to crease.

Add FACTORY to natural crease and blend to soften look.

On outside corner of lid create a < shape with BLACKHEART
to elongate the eye and create a nice almond shape.
Lightly blend in to soften edges.
To deepen color, just keep packing on the color and blending.

Using black eyeliner or gel liner,
line the inner water lines of upper and lower lids.
Choose a liner that is waterproof or long lasting for best results.

The easiest way to line your upper water line is to take your pencil and touch it to the upper waterline inside the lid, close your eyes and move the pencil back and forth in a windshield washer motion while pushing up on the inner lid.
I recommend Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in “Perversion” or MAC Fluidline in “Blacktrack”

Using a small brush, blend BLACKHEART under lower lashline and up into lower lashes.

Highlight brow bone with STRANGE.

Add a few layers of your favorite black mascara, and you're done!
I have used Mally Volumizing Mascara in black.

Extra credit: To add a bit more drama, add faux lashes!
These are Ardell Demi Whispies in black

Tah-DAH!
